•Remember – families and friends are losing a loved one, but the patient is losing ALL his loved ones, prized possessions, and everything familiar.
•Openly discuss your feelings with your pastor, a trusted friend, or with our trained social workers and chaplains.
•Share common feelings with others in a group setting who are also experiencing loss. Call 1-800 992-6592 to learn current dates and times of these meetings
•Understand even children and teens need help coping with feelings. Frequently, they feel more comfortable to talk with someone outside the family and may not want to add to the burden their parents are carrying. We have separate groups for school age children and teens as well as adults.
•Recognize that anger, denial, depression, tear or no tears, are all normal reactions to losing something valuable.
